CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Aaron Miller ran for three touchdowns and Eric Goins kicked three field goals as The Citadel posted a 37-14 victory over Gardner-Webb on Saturday night.
Miller was 8-of-15 passing for 186 yards for the Bulldogs (1-3) and led his team on the ground with 91 yards on 18 carries.
In the third quarter, Jake Stenson ran for a touchdown but the extra-point kick by Goins failed. Miller would make up for that with his team's next score, taking it in from a yard out for the touchdown then scoring the 2-point conversion himself.
The Citadel defense completely shut down Gardner-Webb's running game, which finished with negative yardage.
Lucas Beatty was 29 of 35 for 280 yards and a touchdown for the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-3). He also scored a rushing TD. Kenny Cook had nine receptions for 103 yards.
