BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Few differences emerged between the two candidates running for Idaho's schools chief after participating in three debates in one week.
First-time GOP candidate Sherri Ybarra and former chief deputy state superintendent and Democrat Jana Jones found more similar ground on how Idaho's schools should be funded and operated in debates held at Twin Falls, Caldwell and Boise this past week.
They both support the state's latest education standards and promised they would be the top student advocate.
Ybarra and Jones disagreed at all three debates, however, on who is better qualified.
Ybarra, who's worked in one school district for the past 20 years, says she's in prime of her career. Meanwhile, Jones says her 40 years of experience have been spent working on education issues a local and national level.
