LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 30-year-old former Nevada state prison guard could get five years behind bars after pleading guilty to smuggling contraband to Las Vegas Strip shooting and crash defendant Ammar Harris.
Derland Blake of North Las Vegas pleaded guilty Wednesday to a felony bribery charge, and prosecutors dropped seven other charges against him.
Blake's sentencing is set Jan. 28.
Blake was one of six people accused of conspiring to smuggle cellphones, food, methamphetamines and vodka to Harris at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs.
The 28-year-old Harris is serving 16 years to life for his conviction in a June 2010 sex attack and robbery case.
Harris' death penalty trial is expected next year in the Strip shooting and fiery crash that left three people dead in February 2013.
