STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — An administrator at Oklahoma State University has received a $3.4 million grant from the National Science Foundation for a program designed to increase minority students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math.

The five-year grant was awarded to Jason F. Kirksey, associate vice president for Institutional Diversity at OSU. Kirksey is the principal investigator for the Oklahoma Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, a consortium of 11 universities in the state that develops programs to increase minority student involvement in higher education and other career goals.

The grant will provide undergraduate minority students with opportunities to conduct research with faculty mentors, attend conferences and prepare for graduate school.

Kirksey says the grant will allow him to continue working with minority scholars at OSU and across the state.
