MESQUITE, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say one employee is injured after an explosion at a plastics manufacturing business in Nevada. Fire and Rescue officials say the person was burned and was being airlifted to Las Vegas after the blast yesterday at Primex Plastics Corp. in Mesquite. The plant manager says the situation is under investigation.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 21-year-old California man who died in Las Vegas before attending the Electric Daisy Carnival music festival had a lethal combination of cocaine, methamphetamine and alcohol in his system. The Clark County coroner reports that Joey Sayachak (SAY'-chek) of Fresno's death was an accident. The electronic music festival June 20-23 attracted more than 130,000 people. Sayachak was one of three people who authorities say died during the weekend.

PLACERVILLE, Calif. (AP) — A massive blaze in California that threatens thousands of homes has become the second-most expensive blaze to fight in the state this year. A State fire spokesman said the King Fire east of Sacramento has cost more than $53 million since it began nearly two weeks ago. King Fire has stretched into Nevada and is nearly 40 percent contained.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters were battling a blaze in a two-story apartment building a few blocks east of the Las Vegas Strip. It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was injured after Clark County firefighters were called yesterday afternoon to the burning building at Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road.
