CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Law enforcement agencies across Wyoming are partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to offer people a chance to safely dispose of prescription medication Saturday.
The DEA is working with state and local law enforcement to collect and dispose of the drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The chemicals in prescription drugs can harm wildlife or the environment if thrown away or flushed down a sink or toilet. Drugs left in trash bins or by the curb also can be stolen and abused.
Through the program, the DEA has collected more than 4.1 million pounds of prescription drugs throughout the country and from several U.S. territories since 2010.
