CANTON, N.Y. (AP) — Officials at a northern New York college say they'll conduct an internal investigation into an unruly off-campus party attended by about 300 students.

WWNY-TV in Watertown reports (http://bit.ly/1yp6uMp ) that police in Canton broke up the party early Sunday morning after receiving complaints about drunk and disorderly students at a house just outside the St. Lawrence County village.

Police say some of the students blocked traffic and shouted obscenities at officers as they tried to disperse the crowd. Officials say it took about an hour for police to herd the crowd back to the campus of the State University of New York at Canton.

SUNY Canton officials say disciplinary action is possible.

Police also had to shut down the party scene in Brockport, another upstate college town, when crowds of students and alumni spilled out of bars early Sunday.
