LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a 48-year-old man who died during a home invasion in Las Vegas over the weekend.
Clark County coroner's officials say Monty Gibson was killed in the encounter that happened a little after 8 p.m. Sunday on the 1600 block of Broadmere Street. That's near Hualapai Way and Charleston Boulevard.
Officers told KVVU-TV shortly after the incident that two suspects tried to break into a home when two residents confronted them. The station reported there was an exchange of gunfire that left one of the residents dead.
Authorities said early Monday that one person was detained and they were looking for a second person in connection with the shooting.
Police have released few details since, and didn't say whether they suspected the incident was random.
