LAS VEGAS (AP) — Officials with the Nevada State Treasurer's office are in Las Vegas to kick off the second year of a program that opens up thousands of college savings accounts for Nevada's kindergartners. About 35,000 college savings accounts with $50 each in seed money were opened last year through the Nevada College Kick Start Program. Another 35,000 are opening this year.

HIKO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a driver of Porsche died after a rollover crash near the finish line of a high-speed, open-highway race through rural Nevada. Lincoln County Sheriff Kerry Lee says the crash happened during Sunday's Silver State Classic Challenge on State Route 318. The driver was identified as Phillip Bowser.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Retired boxer Mike Tyson came to the rescue of an injured motorcyclist after a crash on Interstate 15 in Las Vegas last week. The attorney for 29-year-old Ryan Chesley says his client was lying on the ground when he looked up and saw Tyson, who was yelling at people not to touch Chesley. Tyson's assistant acknowledges that he got a handwritten thank-you note and a fruit basket from Chelsey.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is expanding this weekend's "Prescription Drug Roundup" to Lake Tahoe. The sheriff's office says Incline Village Community Hospital has agreed to participate in Saturday's roundup from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of a chance to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
