BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Forest Service says an Oregon-based firefighter has been seriously injured while fighting a wildfire in Idaho. Richard Ochoa Jr. was hit by a wood snag Sunday evening while clearing fire line on the Freezeout Ridge Fire in the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. Ochoa was flown to a Boise hospital, where he was reported in stable condition in intensive care.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Yellowstone National Park officials are considering a proposal to update and repair many of the overlooks and trails on the north and south rims of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. The proposal comes after an 8-year-old California girl died when she fell 550 feet after losing her footing while hiking in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone last month.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's online marketplace will offer 261 different coverage plans to individuals and small businesses wanting health insurance. The state's health exchange board members approved five companies Monday to offer the plans, which will open for enrollment Nov. 15. Idaho's exchange is part of President Obama's 2010 health care reform act.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center is expanding a program that helps emergency room patients who don't speak English. The Times-News reports that the hospital has expanded its remote translation service in Ketchum and Twin Falls. The service is also available to patients in Jerome. Translators are available for over 200 languages.
