THIBODAUX, La. (AP) — Officials in Lafourche Parish are asking residents to report dead birds.
The Daily Comet reports (http://bit.ly/1s90FzW) the request is tied to concerns about West Nile virus, which can be carried by birds.
Authorities say residents should exercise caution around dead birds and report them to the parish mosquito control department at 985-580-1629 or the parish's risk management department at 985-446-8427.
