This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
The foundation of a building is essential because it anchors the building through anything that may befall it. Both Danny Johnson and Kelly Edwards understand this concept and help provide structurally sound bases for buildings with their business, Rock Chuckers.
Headquartered in West Jordan, Rock Chuckers is designed to place and grade aggregate materials including gravel, sand, road base, top soil and mulch. Services the company offers include commercial and industrial building pad preparation, highway erosion control, backfilling basements on tight lots, landscaping and bedding utility trenches.
Both Danny and Kelly have extensive backgrounds in construction. Kelly has been in the sand and gravel industry for more than 13 years and has experience with excavators, safety training, conveyers, transportation and operations management. Danny has worked in the field of conveyed aggregates for nine years as an operator, sales director, general manager and business consultant. They formed Rock Chuckers a little over a year ago.
Rock Chuckers is the first and only company in Utah to own and operate all-terrain units known as the AT6. With the AT6, operators can place and grade up to 22,000 square feet of building pad prep, or two linear miles of trench backfill, in one day. Production of this scale could take up to seven days using traditional methods.
In their first year of business, Danny says Rock Chuckers has already doubled in size. It was also nominated as the 2007 SBA business of the year. The company has completed a wide range of projects including work for schools, churches, warehouses and office buildings. Danny and Kelly hope to expand their business into other parts of the western United States.
Rock Chuckers is unique because it can take a traditional method of placing graded materials and make it more affordable and efficient. The company's innovations speed up the building process. Both owners are excited to see their business continue to grow.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
