EFFORT, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a multi-vehicle crash in northeastern Pennsylvania has taken the lives of two adults and three children. POLLOCK PINES, Calif. (AP) — Thousands of homes are being threatened by an out-of-control wildfire in Northern California. Nearly 5,000 firefighters, many from nearby states, are battling the King Fire which has already charred about 126 square miles and is only 10 percent contained. A man accused of setting the blaze has pleaded not guilty. He's being held on $10 million bail.

BEIRUT (AP) — Lebanon's state media says three people were killed in a suicide car bombing at a checkpoint manned by the Shiite Hezbollah militia about 3 miles from the Syria border. The attack was likely linked to the war in neighboring Syria. Sunni militants are trying to punish Hezbollah because its fighters are battling alongside forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad.
