LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — A Whitehall man is accused of fondling a terminally ill cancer patient while she was sedated in her La Crosse hospital bed.
The man was arrested on a tentative charge of second-degree sexual assault. The La Crosse Tribune reported (http://bit.ly/1up89vg ) that the woman had asked him to bring her some clothes and personal items, and he decided to stay the night.
The man was sleeping on a couch, and the woman fell asleep after taking oxycodone and trazodone, according to a police report. She said she awoke to find the 62-year-old man touching her inappropriately.
She demanded that he return to the couch and said she'd call police if he came near her again for the rest of the night, the report said. When she woke up the next morning he was gone.
She reported the incident to a nurse, and a patient advocate called police.
The man told investigators the woman was making sounds that made him think she wanted him to touch her, according to the police report.
