TYLER, Texas (AP) — Jonathan Fleming threw five touchdown passes to lead Houston Baptist to its first official victory, defeating NAIA Texas College 72-6 on Saturday.

Fleming, who threw to 11 receivers, connected with Kenneth Bibbins for two touchdowns and 81 yards on just three catches.

Houston Baptist (1-2) played last year, but those were all unofficial games. Fleming connected on three TD passes in the first quarter. The Huskies continued the onslaught until they led 42-0 at the half. Fleming's longest pass was to Bibbins for 48 yards in the third quarter.

HBU will play Abilene Christian next Saturday to open Southland Conference play.

The Husky defense shut down the Steers, only allowing them to cross midfield twice. Their only score came on a Milton Harper to Bradford Lewis pass in the third. Cory Sharmen ran for 100 yards on 15 carries for Texas College.
