LINWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Police in southern New Jersey have arrested a 15-year-old student on charges he brought a toy gun to school.
Officials at Mainland Regional High School learned the boy had what appeared to be a gun in his backpack on Wednesday.
Interim Superintendent Robert Previti tells The Press of Atlantic City (bit.ly/1r6vO3p) he and the principal approached the boy, got his backpack and took him to the guard stationed in the school.
Linwood police charged the student with possession of an imitation firearm in a school.
The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, was turned over to his parents.
