LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A coroner has determined a Dallas-area freshman at Texas Tech University whose body was found last month in a house died of acute alcohol intoxication.
Lubbock County's medical examiner on Tuesday announced the death of 18-year-old Dalton Debrick of Irving has been ruled an accident.
Lubbock police are continuing to investigate the death of the teen, whose body was discovered Aug. 24 after reports of a party. Police hours earlier responded to a complaint about noise at the residence.
Police are trying to determine who provided alcohol to the underage student. The legal drinking age in Texas is 21.
Dean of Students Amy Murphy says the school continues with its own investigation, including whether anyone violated the student code of conduct.
