MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — A woman who rammed her car into two Cobb County sheriff's deputies outside the county jail last year has been found guilty but mentally ill.
Cobb County District Attorney's spokeswoman Kim Isaza says 34-year-old Candida Summerlin of Marietta admitted crashing a rental car into two deputies on May 31, 2013 and was found guilty on Tuesday.
Isaza says Summerlin faced 13 charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault on a peace office, hit and run and more.
Prosecutors say jurors were shown a video of the attack and heard two expletive-laced phone calls Summerlin made from jail after the incident in which she claimed that she rammed the deputies because one tried shooting her.
Summerlin's sentencing is set for Nov. 5.
