FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Veterans Administration officials say they have signed leases for two clinics outside Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune.
The Fayetteville Observer reported (http://bit.ly/1lXA2M6 ) that Fayetteville Veterans Affairs Medical Center associate director James Galkowski said the leases were signed last week.
Officials say the leases clear the way for temporary clinics in Fayetteville and Jacksonville. The leases run for two years.
Officials say the clinics are part of a plan to improve access to health care for veterans in southeastern North Carolina and parts of South Carolina.
Officials have said lack of clinic space is one reason that the Fayetteville VA has some of the longest waits in the country for veterans seeking care.
Galkowski says the clinics will provide space for 2,000 new patients to enroll in VA health care.
