LAS VEGAS (AP) — A large swath of Interstate 15 is closed in both directions north of Las Vegas and could be for 3-4 days after a fierce storm washed out parts of the road.

Nevada Department of Transportation officials say the closure runs from mile marker 64 to mile marker 112, between Glendale and Mesquite.

Utah transportation officials had closed Interstate 15 two miles away from the Utah-Arizona border, but have since reopened it to Mesquite.

Monsoonal moisture and the remnants of Tropical Storm Norbert combined to pour rain over the Southwest on Monday. The town of Moapa was hardest-hit in southern Nevada, with more than 4 inches of rain in a two-hour period.

NDOT officials say they're putting out an emergency contract to repair washed-away roadway.

No serious injuries have been reported.
