A new sandwich shop with a cause located at 200 S. 414 E. For every sandwich they sell, they donate one to a local non-profit partner. Their Salt Lake City partners are the YWCA, the Good Samaritan Program, the Rescue Mission and Volunteers of America Homeless Youth Outreach.
For the month of August Even Stevens donated 4,435 sandwiches to their four partners. Their goal is to provide those non-profits programs in finding housing or employment for their clientele.
Even Stevens believes in feeding our community as well as utilizing the awesome products they have to offer such as Beehive Cheese, Rimini Coffee, Pepperlane Spreads, and four local breweries Epic, Squatters, Uinta and Wasatch. They are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
JALAPENO POPPER GRILLED CHEESE
8 slices of fresh French bread
12 slices Beehive white cheddar
4-5 fresh jalapeños
2 tbsp minced garlic
4 oz cream cheese
2 teaspoons mayo
1.5 oz pickled jalapeños
DIRECTIONS: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Roast your jalapeños! Cut off the ends, core out the middle (if you don't like it spicy) and slice them into dimes. Lay the slices out on a baking sheet. Drizzle with EVOO and sprinkle the minced garlic on top. Roast for 10 minutes.
Make the poppin' cream cheese spread! Let cream cheese soften at room temperature, then blend with pickled jalapeños and mayos. Be sure to taste test.
Assemble! Lay 3 slices of Beehive white cheddar, broken into 6 halves, across both slices of French bread. Spread your cream cheese generously on top. Add 2 teaspoons mayo a generous layer of garlic roasted jalapenos. Don't forget the love. Grill and serve.
