KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — An Afghan official says that an attack by Taliban fighters has killed five Afghan soldiers and wounded 14 in the country's west.
Gov. Fazullah Wahidi said Wednesday that the overnight attack also resulted in the deaths of six Taliban fighters. Wahidi said the attackers were wearing Afghan army uniforms.
The violence comes as Afghanistan waits for the final results of its presidential election. Election officials are carrying out a recount of ballots from the runoff and results are expected next week.
