BERLIN (AP) — Germany is going to send high-end rifles, tank-busting weapons and armored vehicles to Kurdish fighters battling Islamic extremists in Iraq. The German defense minister says the weapons will be sent in three shipments starting next month, and will initially be enough to equip a brigade of 4,000 Kurdish fighters.

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — The evacuated U.S. Embassy in Libya and its residential compound are under new management. An umbrella group for Islamist militias says it's guarding the facility now after ousting rival militiamen. A commander of the group Dawn of Libya tells The Associated Press that his forces took over the compound last week, after seizing control of the capital. A video posted online today shows men playing in a pool at the compound and jumping into it from a second-story balcony.

NAPA, Calif. (AP) — Northern California's wine country has been rattled by another aftershock from last weekend's magnitude-6.0 earthquake. The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-3.2 tremor struck 5 miles south of the city of Napa overnight. No additional damage or injuries have been reported. The USGS says there have been more than 70 aftershocks recorded since last Sunday's earthquake, including one measuring 3.9 on Tuesday.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The show is over for the Showboat Casino Hotel. The Mardi Gras-themed casino has shut down after 27 years on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The city has been struggling with plunging revenue and increased competition. Showboat is one of three Atlantic City casinos shutting down over the next two weeks. Revel will begin a two-day closing tomorrow, and Trump Plaza is closing Sept. 16.

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) — Celebrity chef Todd English has been arrested in New York on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Police say English was arrested early today on a county road on Long Island. He posted $1,500 bail at Southampton Town Justice Court. English has opened a number of restaurants around the country, including Olives, Figs, and Fish Club. He's also been a regular on television programs including "Iron Chef USA."
