As well as paintings and drawings the museum will display dresses, kimonos, toiletries and musical instruments.
The exhibition is part of the Van Gogh Museum's Japanese summer, which runs from July 7 to October 22 with three shows featuring various aspects of 19th century Japan.
Lovers of Japanese art can take in "Wonders of Imperial Japan: Meiji art from the Khalili collection", which comprises more than 200 major works including Japanese-inspired paintings by Van Gogh.
Another exhibit, "A Tokaido Make-over", shows photographer Guus Rijven's contemporary vision of the Tokaido coastal highway alongside 19th century woodcuts of Tokaido by Utagawa Hiroshige.
