(AP) — The Washoe County School Board is offering School Superintendent Pedro Martinez $25,000 to settle a lawsuit he filed in the wake of his sudden firing and subsequent rehiring last month. KRNV-TV reports Martinez has 10 days to accept the offer. The school district is scheduled to have a confidential mediation with Martinez next month.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas attorney is calling for federal prosecutors to take over the investigation of the February slaying of a 20-year-old man by Bureau of Land Management rangers. Attorney Jacob Hafter says it's been six months since D'Andre Berghart Jr. was killed and his family have no answers.
NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified the man accused of fatally shooting a 25-year-old man over the weekend in a North Las Vegas neighborhood. North Las Vegas police say 22-year-old Ajuan Theus was arrested on suspicion of murder after the Sunday shooting that killed C'dario r Burns.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 31-year-old woman who was found dead in her Washoe County jail cell. Washoe County deputies say Kerry Roop of Reno was found dead early Sunday. She had been jailed over the weekend for failing to comply with a court order. Investigators say there are no signs of foul play.
