TWISP, Wash. (AP) — New headaches could arrive today for an area of Washington state already singed from widespread wildfires and flooding. Forecasters say a slow-moving front bringing heavy rain and thunder is expected to arrive, just days after flash floods destroyed at least 10 homes and closed down highways. The concern is that heavy rain brings the possibility of flash floods and debris flows.

NASSAU, Bahamas (AP) — The southeast and central Bahamas are under a tropical storm watch. A tropical depression that's expected to strengthen today is headed toward the islands. The storm formed over the Turks and Caicos Islands and dumped heavy rains on parts of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The journalist from New Hampshire whose two years of captivity by Islamic State militants ended in his beheading will be remembered today. A Mass of Remembrance is set for James Foley, who was kidnapped on Thanksgiving Day 2012 while covering the Syrian uprising. The mass is in Foley's hometown church, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Rochester, New Hampshire.

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Police report only a handful of arrests after a brief flare-up of tensions in Ferguson, Missouri where nightly protests continued two weeks after a white city police officer fatally shot an unarmed black 18-year-old. Peaceful daytime protests yesterday gave way to angrier shouts and more defiant marchers as night fell — including some who argued angrily with one another. After midnight, there were no signs of police riot gear, tear gas or heavy artillery.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli military aircraft have been busy over the Gaza Strip as Hamas rockets continue to fall on Israel. The airstrikes leveled two taller buildings and severely damaged a two-story shopping center, signaling a new escalation in seven weeks of fighting with Palestinian militants. An Israeli military official says there's now a widening of targetable locations.
