MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) — A former teacher at a Detroit-area high school charged with having sex with a 15-year-old student has waived her right to a probable-cause hearing.
Kathryn Ronk made a brief appearance Wednesday in Madison Heights District Court. The 29-year-old's case was bound over to circuit court.
Ronk faces five counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Authorities say she engaged in sexual acts with the teenager in classrooms at Bishop Foley High School, where she no longer is employed.
A message seeking comment was left with her lawyer on Wednesday.
Ronk was a Spanish teacher at the Madison Heights school.
No date has been set yet for her next court appearance.
