PROVO, Utah (AP) — Some Provo residents are tying black ribbons around downtown trees they fear will be uprooted to make room for a planned rapid bus service. Residents worried about losing trees and the shade they cast began tying the ribbons on trees lining the city's University Avenue last month. Provo officials are reviewing proposed street designs and say they hope the project will relocate or save trees.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Mormon church is set to debut a new full-length documentary featuring the stories of six church members from around the globe. David Bednar of The LDS Quorum of the Twelve said yesterday in Provo that "Meet the Mormons" will be shown in select theaters starting in October.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An 86-year-old Salt Lake City woman became a first-time novelist by writing a steamy romance novel about a bored housewife. Georgia Gorringe told KUTV that it took her five years to write the novel, titled "No Good-Bye." Gorringe says the story focuses on a woman who listens to talk radio and is turned on by a man's magical voice.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Jazz have signed free agent Jack Cooley. The 6-foot-9 forward played last season in the Turkish Basketball League, averaging 12.6 points and 6.9 rebounds in 28 games. Cooley was undrafted after four years at Notre Dame, where he averaged 13.1 points and 10.1 rebounds in the 2012-13 season as a senior.
