CHICAGO (AP) — Lagging enrollment and financial woes have prompted Chicago's Roosevelt University to eliminate many programs at its Schaumburg campus.
In a letter to the university's board of trustees, President Chuck Middleton said the university is overcommitted in Schaumburg and will relocate some staff to Chicago.
Roosevelt's latest IRS filing showed the university ran a $3.3 million deficit in the year ended last August, compared to a $5.2 million surplus the year before. Officials say enrollment fell 12 percent to 5,114 in the last four years.
Besides the pharmacy program, the Schaumburg campus hosts the Walter E. Heller College of Business, the College of Education, and the Evelyn T. Stone College of Professional Studies. Only the pharmacy program will remain in Schaumburg.
Middleton indicated much of the Schaumburg facility could be sold.
