SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An attorney for a 67-year-old woman who drank sweet tea laced with an industrial cleaning chemical at a South Jordan restaurant says it was mixed into the tea by an employee who mistook it for sugar. Jan Harding is in critical condition at a Salt Lake City hospital burn unit after being injured Sunday at Dickey's Barbecue Pit. Police say it appears to be an accident.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors say four former Utah National Guard members defrauded an Army program by accepting bonuses for soldiers they never recruited. The Deseret News reports fraud charges were filed last week in federal court. The bonus program rewarded soldiers if friends of relatives enlisted. The program has since been ended.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a 29-year-old Millcreek man with murder in the death of his 70-year-old father. Unified Police say Christopher Robbins was seen by his brother leaving their father's bedroom, where the man was found dead. Charging documents show officers found a metal bar on the floor nearby.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management is looking for vandals who spray-painted gun targets near ancient American Indian rock art in Utah County. Investigators found more than a dozen targets on large rocks and outcroppings in the Lake Mountains area west of Utah Lake. The agency says they were painted sometime between July 25 and July 31.
