PARIS (AP) — Five climbers have died on Mont Blanc in the French Alps and a sixth is missing. The climbers disappeared overnight as they were trying to reach the 12,800-foot primary peak. The bodies of five climbers have been located. Search and rescue teams in helicopters are flying over the area.

PARIS (AP) — France says it's sending arms to Kurdish forces in Iraq because the Kurds are in "urgent need" of support against radicals of the Islamic State group. The French presidency says the arms shipment will be delivered "in the coming hours" and that authorities in Baghdad are in agreement.

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt's top cleric is condemning the extremist Islamic State group that has been on a rampage in Iraq and Syria. Grand Mufti Shawki Allam says the group he calls a "terrorist" organization poses a danger to Islam and Muslims, and he says it's "violating all the Islamic principles and the intentions" of Islamic law.

DONETSK, Ukraine (AP) — At least three people have been killed in the separatist-controlled city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine as the government intensifies its shelling campaign. Associated Press reporters say two bodies were lying in a street this morning in the southwestern section of the city, 11 hours after the rocket fire ended. The city government reports three deaths.

DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) — Security officials in Bangladesh have arrested the owner of a ferry that sank earlier this month with more than 100 people dead or missing. They say Abu Bakar Siddique was arrested today during a house raid in the southeastern part of the country. He had gone into hiding after the overloaded ferry sank August 4. The captain and four others are also facing charges and are still on the run. Only 48 bodies from the ferry have been recovered and about 60 are missing and are presumed dead.
