NEW YORK (AP) — A surge of buying in stocks on Friday is offering hope for investors as a new trading week begins. The Dow ended up 186 points, or 1.1 percent Friday, to 16,553. The S&P 500 rose 22 points, or 1.2 percent, to 1,931. And the Nasdaq rose 36 points, or 0.83 percent, to 4,370.

BEIJING (AP) — Global stocks rose sharply today. In morning trade in Europe, Germany's DAX, France's CAC-40 and Britain's FTSE 100 are up. Asian stocks closed higher. And Wall Street is poised to open higher, with Dow and S&P futures each up 0.3 percent.

CAMARILLO, Calif. (AP) — Drivers are getting some relief at the gas pump. The Lundberg Survey says the average price of gasoline has dipped 6 cents a gallon in the past two weeks. Lundberg says the average nationwide for a gallon of regular is now $3.52. The average price for midgrade gasoline is $3.83 and premium is $3.88.

NEW YORK (AP) — The group of oil and gas pipeline and storage companies controlled by Kinder Morgan but traded separately will combine and become the 4th biggest U.S. energy company by market value. The companies announced Sunday that Kinder Morgan Inc., Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, Kinder Morgan Management and El Paso Pipeline Partners will all combine under the Kinder Morgan Inc. umbrella and trade under the KMI ticker symbol. Kinder Morgan Inc. says the total purchase price of the three other companies is $71 billion.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has sliced off $65 million at the weekend box office. According to studio estimates, Paramount Pictures' comic-book adaptation lunged into first place in its debut weekend. Coming in second was "Guardians of the Galaxy," which brought in $41.5 million, followed by "Into the Storm," ''The Hundred-Foot Journey" and "Lucy."
