BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Some Idaho business owners say the state's laws limiting the number of liquor licenses in each city stunt local economic growth. The Idaho Statesman reports that Idaho regulations have resulted in a scarcity of liquor licenses, which in turn has caused business owners to resell licenses at exorbitant costs. According to Idaho law, each municipality is allotted one liquor license for every 1,500 residents.
OROFINO, Idaho (AP) — A small, home-built airplane has crashed in the Clearwater National Forest near the Idaho-Montana line, killing the pilot. Clearwater County deputies say helicopter a spotted the wreckage yesterday west of Lolo Pass. The pilot is identified as 72-year-old Milon Meyer of Richland, Washington. No one else was on board.
READING, Pa. (AP) — A 44-year-old Pennsylvania man suspected in a double homicide in Boise has been arrested. Police tell say Boise detectives got a warrant for John Douglas' arrest on Sunday and flew to Pennsylvania to take him into custody. A second man has pleaded not guilty in the shootings.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal appeals court says St. Luke's Health System can continue to operate Nampa-based Saltzer Medical Group while it seeks to overturn a ruling that its purchase of Saltzer violated anti-trust laws. The Idaho Statesman reports that the court said Friday the appeal is a priority and will schedule the case in January.
