OROFINO, Idaho (AP) — A small airplane on a flight from Richland, Washington, to Baker, Montana, has crashed in the Clearwater National Forest near the Idaho-Montana border, killing the pilot. Sheriff's deputies say that before the crash, the pilot radioed that the plane might not make it to its next stop in Helena, Montana. No one else was on board the plane.
READING, Pa. (AP) — A 44-year-old Pennsylvania man suspected in a double homicide in Boise has been arrested in Reading (RED'-ding). Police tell The Reading Eagle that Boise detectives got a warrant for John Douglas' arrest on Sunday and flew to Pennsylvania to take him into custody. A second man has pleaded not guilty in the shootings.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Some Idaho business owners say the state's laws limiting the number of liquor licenses is hurting economic development. The Idaho Statesman reports licenses sold by the state for $750 can be resold for more than $300,000. According to Idaho law, each municipality is allotted one liquor license for every 1,500 residents.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A federal appeals court says St. Luke's Health System can continue to operate Nampa-based Saltzer Medical Group while it seeks to overturn a ruling that its purchase of Saltzer violated anti-trust laws. The Idaho Statesman reports that the court said Friday the appeal is a priority and will schedule the case in January.
