NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee right guard Andy Levitre is starting training camp on the non-football injury list after having an appendectomy the day before the Titans reported.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt joked Friday that Levitre came up with the worst excuse for getting out of the running test that he's seen.
Levitre had surgery Thursday and wrote on Twitter that the procedure went great and that he can't wait to get back on the field.
The Titans signed Levitre as a free agent in March 2013, and he has started all 80 games since being drafted by Buffalo in 2009. Whisenhunt says Levitre will be replaced in practice by rookie Taylor Lewan and Chris Spencer until the veteran returns.
