WORLEY, Idaho (AP) — A Native American tribe has canceled an Aug. 4 concert by Ted Nugent at its casino in northwest Idaho. The Coeur d'Alene Tribe said it called off the show at the casino in Worley because of the rocker's "racist and hate-filled remarks." The tribe says it booked Nugent without realizing he espoused "racist attitudes and views." Officials at Nugent's music management company were available for comment yesterday.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Federal wildlife refuges in Idaho are phasing out pesticides similar to nicotine because they pose a threat to bees and other pollinators. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says it requires the use of methods posing the least risk to wildlife. The region covering Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Hawaii is the first in the agency to impose the ban.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Gay-rights activists who were arrested after they blocked doorways in the Idaho Statehouse were sentenced yesterday in front of an emotional and packed courtroom in Boise. The 23 defendants took part in peaceful protests during the 2014 legislative session as part of an effort to persuade lawmakers to add legal protections for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender residents. They were ordered to pay court costs and perform community service.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Sierra Sandison has become a role model for many ever since she took the Miss Idaho crown after learning to embrace her diabetes diagnosis with pride. Sandison wore her insulin pump clipped to her clothing at last week's Miss Idaho pageant, including during the swimsuit competition.
