WAHPETON, N.D. (AP) — An Idaho man has been convicted of killing a man outside a strip club in the North Dakota oil patch hub of Williston. The Wahpeton Daily News reports that 46-year-old Jonathan Horvath was found guilty yesterday. The trial was moved out of the Williston area due to extensive media coverage.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Republican Congressman Mike Simpson says plans by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to close a sheep research facility on the Idaho-Montana border have been blocked by Congress. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack wants to close the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station near Dubois in eastern Idaho because declining budgets mean it can no longer conduct necessary research.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Coeur d'Alene Police Chief Ron Clark says the shooting of a dog inside a van by an officer is being investigated and the officer involved has been reassigned to desk duty. The Spokesman-Review reports that Mayor Steve Widmyer says the city will take full responsibility if the investigation determines mistakes were made.
