5 Washoe high school grads win Merit Scholarships

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Five recent graduates from high schools in Washoe County have been named winners of National Merit Scholarships.

The scholarships carry anywhere from $500 to $2,000 per year to be placed toward tuition at participating colleges and universities.

The Washoe County winners include two from Reno High School, Madison Eckert and Tania Luo. The others are Heather Azcarate of Spanish Springs High, Sergio Galvan Rubio of Wooster and Trevor Trunnels of the Academy of Arts, Careers & Technology.
