FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Educators from around the country are gathering in Flagstaff this week to learn how to better serve American Indian students.
Northern Arizona University's American Indian Teacher Education Conference takes place Thursday through Sunday at the school's Flagstaff campus.
The topics include college readiness, implementing Navajo immersion programs, leadership training, culturally appropriate teaching and language revitalization. Participants will discuss specific course content that can be included in teacher preparation programs.
The conference is in its fifth year.
