PAUL, Idaho (AP) — A helicopter crashed into a hay field northwest of Paul, injuring three men. Lincoln County Sheriff Kevin Ellis tells the Times-News that all three men were conscious and talking when emergency responders arrived. The names of the men involved haven't been released.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — Two young Coeur d'Alene children are hospitalized in Seattle after suffering burns when a gas can exploded near a backyard fire pit. The Spokesman-Review reports the 8-year-old boy was hospitalized in intensive care with first-and second-degree burns on 21 percent of his body, mostly his legs and arms. The 4-year-old girl suffered burns on 9 percent of her body.
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Crews are searching the Snake River in south-central Idaho for a fisherman who was swept away while trying to cross the river. Authorities tell The Times-News that 46-year-old Troy Baynes of Murtaugh and 49-year-old Ivan Findley had hiked down into the canyon near Hansen Bridge to fish on Sunday, but were unable to safely hike back up the steep hill. At some point they decided to try to cross the river and Baynes was swept away.
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Federal officials have identified 20 parcels of public lands in 10 states they say could be suitable for bison relocated from Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone's bison population periodically spills into neighboring Montana, triggering large-scale slaughters of the animals to prevent the spread of disease.
