BOSTON (AP) — Stephen Drew lined a two-out single in the eighth inning for Boston that broke up a no-hit bid by Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs on Monday night.

Arrieta had struck out 10 before giving up Drew's sharp single to right field at Fenway Park. Arrieta threw a career-high 120 pitches and was pulled after the hit.

Arrieta took a perfect game into the seventh inning of his last start, on Tuesday at Wrigley Field against Cincinnati, before Billy Hamilton hit a leadoff single.

The Cubs lead Boston 2-0.
