WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Sen. John Thune has promoted a Chamberlain native as his new communications director for his Senate and Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee offices in Washington.

Rachel Millard replaces Andi Fouberg, who's the new president and CEO of the South Dakota State University Alumni Association.

Millard previously was Thune's press secretary after serving as an internal communications adviser and deputy press secretary at the Senate Republican Conference and a legislative aide in Thune's personal office.
