RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Belgium midfielder Steven Defour will be suspended for Tuesday's second round match against the United States at the World Cup after being sent off in his team's final group match with South Korea.
FIFA said Monday that Defour would have to serve the one-match suspension against the United States. He was also fined 7,500 Swiss francs ($8,450).
Defour was sent off the in the 45th minute when he planted his studs, leg outstretched, into the shin of South Korean Kim Shin-wook.
