LEDYARD, Conn. (AP) — A 36-year-old English teacher at Ledyard High School teacher is accused of having sex with a student.
William Friskey of East Lyme was charged Monday with second-degree sexual assault.
Ledyard police say the charges are result of an investigation launched after school officials contacted them to express concerns about a relationship between Friskey and a female student.
Friskey did not immediately return a telephone call Monday seeking comment.
The town's Board of Education issued a statement saying Friskey has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing.
He was released Monday after posting a $75,000 bond and is due in New London Superior Court on July 14.
