The Republican governor says his personal views on the issue are not relevant because it's his job to defend the state's laws. He has previously said he supports the ban.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mormon leaders in Salt Lake City are trying to figure out what to do with a flagpole that was cemented onto Mount Olympus by missionaries. According to the Forest Service, the summit is a designated wilderness area where it's illegal to make any permanent installations.
