SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a Utah officer will return to work after shooting an armed man who demanded prescription drugs at a North Logan emergency room.
Deputy Cache County Attorney Tony Baird tells the Herald-Journal of Logan (http://bit.ly/1iyFiUx) Clint Lund was justified in firing four shots at Cache Valley Hospital.
Police say he struck 34-year-old Jason Burr three times after Burr brandished a pair of guns. Lund was one of two corrections officers who happened to be at the hospital with an inmate on May 16.
Burr has been released from the hospital. He is in Cache County Jail on charges of attempting aggravated robbery and aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon.
Family members say Burr was taking pain pills for back problems.
He is scheduled to appear in court June 30.
