SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) — South Salt Lake police have identified a 40-year-old man who was found dead in a vehicle after a shooting that also wounded his 17-year-old passenger.

Police say Francisco Antonio Colon of West Valley City died in the confrontation that happened a little before 8 p.m. Monday. Colon was found dead inside a Chevy Avalanche, which was stopped in a lane near 200 East and Helm Avenue.

The teenager is not being identified because of his age.

Police Sgt. Gary Keller says two groups of people fled the area after the shooting, including one group of passengers who had been in the Avalanche with the victims.
