AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) — A monument to a slain Utah County sergeant has been unveiled in the fallen officer's hometown of American Fork. A ceremony last night honored Sgt. Cory Wride with the unveiling of a plaque in Robinson Park. Wride was shot and killed Jan. 30 when he stopped to check on a pickup on the shoulder of State Road 73 near Eagle Mountain. The suspect was later shot to death by police.
MOAB, Utah (AP) -- Authorities are trying to determine why a bicyclist from Belgium died in eastern Utah this week. Grand County sheriff's officials say they recovered the body of 46-year-old Dirk De Muynck yesterday on the Jackson Trail, downriver from the Kane Creek Trail parking area. Deputies say it appears De Muynck was carrying his mountain bike when he went down.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's top gun lobbyist will once again be able to access his arsenal after resolving a criminal case against him. Clark Aposhian has pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct infraction and was fined $320. Aposhian had to surrender his weapons last year after his arrest. He was accused of backing up a military-grade vehicle briefly at his ex-wife's home and telling her new husband, "I'll bury you." Aposhian said he was only in the driveway to make a U-turn.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — New Jazz head coach Quin Snyder has completed his staff. The team has announced that Brad Jones, Antonio Lang, Alex Jensen, Mike Wells and Johnnie Bryant have been named as assistant coaches.
