DOWAGIAC, Mich. (AP) — A camp available each summer to students in a southwestern Michigan school district is open for business.
Fitch Camp's summer season kicked off this week.
It has been in operation since 1941, when E. Root Fitch endowed the camp program.
Students who live in the Dowagiac Union school district and have completed grades 2-7 are eligible to attend.
Those who completed second, third and fourth grades this past school year can go each Monday and Wednesday into late next month. Students who finished the fifth, sixth and seventh grades attend Tuesdays and Thursdays into late July.
Activities planned for this season at Fitch Camp include swimming, canoeing, fishing, tennis, volleyball, kickball, softball, crafts and more.
Lunch and snacks are provided. The cost to attend is $1 per day.
