SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Election results show incumbent Brock Belnap has held off challenger Nathan Caplin to win the Republican primary for Washington County attorney.

Belnap won with 55 percent of the vote. No other candidates are vying for the office in November's general election, meaning the primary win sends Belnap to his third term as county attorney.

In addition to serving as county attorney for the past 11 years, Belnap worked at a large, private law firm for five years.

Caplin is an attorney who works for a St. George law firm and teaches history at Dixie State University.
